About Us

A licensed company, not a guy with a truck

Florida Legacy Construction is a licensed Florida building contractor serving Marion, Sumter, and Lake Counties, built on the idea that homeowners deserve a builder they can verify, hold accountable, and trust with the whole project.

Who we are

Built on the license, not just the name

Florida Legacy Construction is led by Travis Strickland, a licensed Florida building contractor (CBC1268994). The company handles kitchen and bathroom remodels, room additions, ADUs, custom homes, whole-home renovations, and commercial build-outs across Marion, Sumter, and Lake Counties.

The standard is the same on every job, whether Travis or a project manager is the one on site: licensed work, permits pulled when the scope requires them, honest scopes, and a written 1-year workmanship warranty. That is what it means to hire a licensed company instead of an unlicensed crew you cannot verify.

The people behind the license

You are not handing your home to a call center. Here is the crew that plans, manages, and stands behind every project we take on.

Travis Strickland, Owner of Florida Legacy Construction

Travis Strickland

Owner

Travis started Florida Legacy Construction to be the licensed, fully insured alternative in a market with too many unlicensed remodelers. He stays hands-on from the first walkthrough to the final inspection, because in a market this size the company's reputation rides on every job. Kitchen remodel or commercial build-out, the standard is the same: permits when required, everything in writing, and work you can verify.

Dakota Leffers, Pre-Construction Manager at Florida Legacy Construction

Dakota Leffers

Pre-Construction Manager

Dakota runs the front end of every project, handling estimating, scheduling, and keeping you posted on progress. He brings 16 years in the trades and comes from a whole family of tradespeople who ran their own businesses. A licensed notary known for being honest and dependable, he moved from Fort Myers to Ocala in 1998, where he is a proud father of three, an active church member, and always up for kayaking, swimming, or fishing.
